This unit is an introduction to both the principles and practice of caring and teaching in the ministry of the Church. 

Description
Learning Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of this unit, it is expected that students will:

  1. Have been exposed to an engaging experience of learning and caring in the community of participants, involving personal growth
  2. Have an understanding of the theoretical framework for the tasks of pastoral and educational ministry and be able to articulate this
  3. Have learned practical skills in pastoral care, learning and teaching, and to be able to put them into practice
  4. Know something of the challenging contemporary context in which caring and teaching is to be exercised. 
Assessment: 
  • 1 x 1000 word book report       40%
  • 1 x group project                     60%
  • (= 1 x 2000 word paper + class presentation)
