1. Semester 2 Enrolment 
Enrolments for Semester 2 closed yesterday Thursday 15th of July.
 
2. Welcome Day / Academic Skills Workshops
This semester a series of workshops for students are being offered Thursdays from the 22nd July – 9th of September.
 
The UFT Welcome Day for new students will be held on Thursday 22nd July in CTM classroom G2 from 12 noon – 2pm.  Sandwiches will be provided so please rsvp to Kim Anderson (details below) by Monday 19th July.
 
The workshops will be held in the Reader Education Room of the Dalton McCaughey Library (at the north end of the second floor) on Thursdays from 2.15pm – 4.15pm. The workshop topics include: Making the Most of Classes, Planning Your Essay, Making the Most of Library Research, Writing Your Essay, Footnotes and Bibliographies, Putting it all Together – and Taking it Apart.
 
Students interested in attending all or some of the sessions must register, and can do so to Kim Anderson at the CTM reception desk, by phone 9340 8890, via email Kim.Anderson@ctm.uca.edu.au or in person. Places are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
3. Canonisation of Mary MacKillop
The day when Mary MacKillop will be canonised in Rome is fast approaching. So far the number, of young people (18 to 35) who have indicated they will be present in Rome, is very small.  The Canonisation Youth Committee is making every effort to ensure that our youth will be there in much greater number.  There is a Youth Pilgrimage that people are encouraged to attend. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please direct them to visit: http://www.sosj.org.au
 
4. Carmelite Centre July Programs
All programs are presented in the O’Connor/Pilkington Rooms, 214 Richardson St, Middle Park 3206 Mel Ref 2K C10. Cost: $10 or $5 concession unless stated differently.

Thursday 22nd July – ‘Generation Y’ – Their Spiritual Needs and Beliefs
Young People’s Spirituality in a Changing Australia.
Facilitator/s: Dr Andrew Singleton – senior lecturer Monash University together with teachers from Star of the Sea College.
This course is accredited by the Catholic Education Office of Melbourne for accreditation to teach in a Catholic School.

5. July 24, 9am – 4.30pm, Bendigo “Refresh” Children & Families Ministry Conference
For those living throughout the North and North West of Victoria, Bendigo “Refresh” is suitable for those in involved with Children and Families ministry in local congregations or local schools. Registration costs $30 or $25 for pensioners/students or groups of 5+. 6. Walter Silvester Memorial Lecture – Convinced and Committed: Lay People Bridging the Church and the World.
This free lecture will held on the 20th of July 2010, 6.30pm at the Christ Lecture Theatre, ACU (Victoria Parade, Fitzroy). Professor Donna Orsuto (Director, Lay Spirituality Centre, Rome, Professor of Spiritual Theology, Gregorian University, Rome) will be discussing ‘Lay People Bridging the Church and the World’.

7. God’s Holy People or God’s Holy Empire? Towards a Healthier, Humbler Church
John Garratt Publishing presents: God’s Holy People or God’s Holy Empire? Towards a Healthier, Humbler Church with Rev Donald Cozzens PhD and response by Bishop Geoffrey Robinson. 6th August, 8.15am-9.00am Hiroshima Silent Vigil, concrete lawn east of Union House, 30 minutes of silence, followed by brief readings and conversation.
