This week at the UFT

1. Office closure Christmas 2011
The UFT office will be closed from Friday 23 December 2011 and will open at 9am on Tuesday 3 January 2012.

Peter and Margaret wish all staff, students and friends of the UFT a happy and holy Christmas and many blessings in the New Year.

2. 2012 Enrolment
All the information you need to reenrol is available on our website: see information for New students and Existing students, Timetables and Enrolment forms. Hard copies of forms may be collected from CTM/UFT reception or the UFT office. Students seeking course advice are advised to contact the Dean by email on dean@uft.edu.au, or to telephone the UFT office on 9340 8890 for a phone or personal appointment. Re-enrolling students should complete 2012 re-enrolment forms as soon as possible and no later than the 16th of February 2012. If you know anyone thinking of commencing theological study at the UFT in 2012, please encourage them to make a time to see the Dean or contact the Registrar. 3. 2012 Units requiring early enrolments
Students are reminded that some units in first semester 2012 have an earlier closing date as classes begin prior to the 27 February 2012. The enrolment date for the following units must completed by 5pm on the specified dates:

a. Secular & Sacred: enrolments for this unit must be completed by Monday 9 January 2012
b. Caring and Teaching in Church and Community by Monday 30 January 2012
c. Introduction to Theological Studies by Monday 6 February 2012
d. New Testament Greek A by 13 February 2012.

4. 2012 MCD University of Divinity Graduation
The annual MCD graduation ceremony showcases the quality and diversity of our graduands, and the vibrancy of our research culture. The 2012 ceremony will take place at Wilson Hall, the University of Melbourne, on the evening of Thursday 3 May. MCD will be sending ATGs forms to graduands by post and email from early to mid-February onwards. Application to Graduate form, website

The Australian Girard Seminar presents a public lecture by the expert medieval theologian, Prof. Ann Astell, from the University of Notre Dame (USA), on “Hearing the Cry of the Poor: René Girard & St. Augustine on the Psalms”. 6. Call for papers ‘God Crucified: A Future for Jesus?’
On 15 and 16 June 2012 a workshop will be held at the Centre for Theology and Ministry to explore the fortieth anniversary of the publication of Jürgen Moltmann’s Theology of Hope. The forum will ask, What is your recollection of a first encounter with the book? What claimed and claims you in it? What future does this theology have? The Conference Planning Committee invites interested scholars, including research students, to submit the title and an abstract (250-300 words) of a short paper, to cgf@christologia.net by Friday February 24, 2012. 7. 2012 Galatians & Christian Theology Conference at St Andrews University.
The University of St Andrews is pleased to announce the fourth conference on Scripture and Christian Theology: Paul’s Letter to the Galatians & Christian Theology. The conference will be held 10-13 July 2012 at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. With the book of Galatians as our key text, biblical scholars and theologians of the Christian tradition will gather to work out how exegesis and theology meet, critique and inform each other.

Call for Papers is now open. We invite proposals for short papers that relate Galatians to Christian theology and culture including: Galatians & Art; Galatians & Christian Doctrine; Galatians & Ethics; Galatians & the History of Interpretation; Galatians & Eschatology; Jewish and Christian Readings of Galatians.
